LSI to power server models with Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v2 product family

Sep 18, 2013 (MarketLine via COMTEX) -- LSI Corporation, which designs, develops and markets storage and networking semiconductors, has announced that its 12Gb/s SAS storage solutions will power over 100 new server models based on the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v2 product family.

LSI 12Gb/s SAS technology delivers 50 percent greater storage I/O performance. The Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v2 Product Family, based on 22nm process technology, delivers greatly reduced power consumption while at the same time providing increased performance. The combined solution enables a powerful platform for next-generation servers, LSI said.

"Workload demands in IT datacenters and cloud environments have grown exponentially, and are driving the need for server systems that can balance performance, efficiency and cost," said Jim Pappas, Director of Technology Initiatives, Intel Corporation. "With today's announcement of the new Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v2 Product Family, we are excited to see support from LSI 12Gb/s SAS technology, allowing customers to benefit from systems that can deliver the full performance potential of flash storage as well as address the needs of virtualized environments." "This is an exciting time for the industry as 12Gb/s SAS technology has emerged to satisfy the ever-increasing demands for more storage performance and I/O bandwidth in the enterprise," said Kelly Bryant, vice president of marketing, RAID Storage Division, LSI. "As the first-to-market leader in 12Gb/s SAS solutions, LSI has worked closely with Intel on the server platform supporting the new Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v2 Product Family, and is committed to helping ensure the solutions deliver their promise of world-class server performance and efficiency." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
