Kcom Becomes Member of the Metro2c Alliance

Sea Fibre Networks (SFN), owner and operator of a sub-sea telecoms network, CeltixConnect, on September 5 revealed Kcom, part of the KCOM Group, as a member of the Metro2c Alliance.
According to a release, Kcom's network coverage enables access to over 90 percent of UK business and its backbone and metropolitan rings will enable the Metro2c Alliance to provide enterprises with network coverage in the UK that is critical for the continuity of the Internet ecosystem.
SFN reported that high-capacity networks are a true enabler of game-changing applications such as cloud computing and Big Data. Service providers such as Kcom, that operate a number of dense metro networks and offer a service portfolio, enable a digital environment for the deployment of on-demand services including cloud and content delivery. Kcom has experience in delivering communication solutions, which further demonstrates the Metro2c Alliance's strategy of working with established local services providers, minimising complexity and risk for cross-border enterprise customers. Kcom's membership in the Metro2c Alliance will enable the delivery of scalable connectivity solutions including VPN, Ethernet MPLS, optical wavelengths and dark fibre.

The Metro2c Alliance is carrier-neutral facilitating collaboration amongst members, providing enterprises with high capacity connectivity solutions matching bespoke requirements such as diverse routing, low latency, scalability and modern technology with very competitive cost efficiencies.
Members of the Metro2c Alliance include:
1. Connectivity Providers: experienced in the design, delivery and management of tier 1 and tier 2 networks, with a track record in dealing with global enterprise and carrier customers. Product offerings include dark fibre and managed services.
2. Data Centre Operators: Data Centre Service Providers crucial to the growth of the digital economy, providing services from data storage, disaster recovery and cloud computing.
3. Internet Exchanges: Internet Exchanges dedicated to reducing costs and increasing the efficiency of the telecoms industry.
