Video ingest made simple
Sep 09, 2013 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) --
Video ingest right in the foyer of the broadcasting station -- the SCISYS KIT makes this possible. Without any technical knowledge, journalists and editors can check in their video material into an AVID/Interplay system using the simple touchscreen interface. The intuitive user interface, using just a few commands needed makes KIT fast and easy to use. There is no redundant user management needed -- login to the Interplay database directly, using already existing accounts. After login the user can access a single project directory, created automatically within the user's home directory. Now just put in the media into the cart/cartridge reader -- that's it!
Kit transfers the clips from the card/cartridge into the project directory of the AVID-system and calculates the needed transfer time. A progress bar indicates the status of the transfer.
It is possible to access the material during the ingest process on an editing workstation. (Edit while capture).
When the transfer is finished, KIT generates a sequence of the transferred clips with the associated timecode. This sequence is ready to use and can be edited with an AVID Media Composer.
An automatically generated email is sent to the user confirming the successful ingest.
Depending on which card/cartridge reader is available, KIT supports the following media formats:
- Compact Flash
XDCAM, P2 and MXF, either in SD or HD are supported native -- so there is no transcoding needed. The clips are rewrapped into the AVID OPAtom format, guaranteeing the fastest transfer.
For even more formats, as action-cam or DSLR video, the optional available Harmonic ProMedia Carbon can be used for transcoding. The default specification of the SCISYS KIT is:
- Design Terminal Case
- 21" Touchscreen Monitor
- Sonnet Qio Cardreader
- HP Workstation
- Integration Harmonic ProMedia Carbon
- Extensive service options
