Itopia Introduces White Paper on Why Lawyers Should Embrace Cloud Computing
Aug 27, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) --
Cloud computing company itopia released "Why Lawyers Can Trust the Cloud," a white paper that reviews regulatory, security and mobility factors regarding attorney and law firm use of virtual desktops and cloud infrastructure.
According to a release, itopia enables companies to harness the power of cloud computing to reduce the cost and complexity of information technology.
"The only thing stopping lawyers from using the cloud is their own personal mistrust," the white paper reports. "State ethics rules allow it and no lawyer can match the level of data security guaranteed by cloud services. The only caveat is that lawyers must take reasonable precautions to protect confidential client information just like they must do with any technology they employ in their practice such as personal computers, mobile phones, or USB flash drives."
According to the white paper, the trend is clear: States are allowing lawyers to utilize cloud computing services so long as reasonable efforts are taken to prevent the inadvertent or unauthorized disclosure of confidential client information. With all of the advantages and benefits that come with the cloud, more lawyers will be looking skyward to achieve their dreams of efficiency and mobility, the report states. In addition, those lawyers can rest easy knowing they can ethically and responsibly use the cloud to achieve those goals.
"Working in the cloud gives attorneys a safer way to store confidential client information, and it enables them to access information from the office to the airport to the courthouse," said Jonathan Lieberman, CEO of itopia. "It's clearly the wave of the future for attorneys because the cloud is more secure, easily scalable and more cost-effective."
With itopia companies that previously owned, operated and maintained IT infrastructure (such as servers, software, switches and routers) can now replace it with a secure, private cloud platform at an economical price. The company currently targets companies with 20-500 workstations and specializes in the legal, financial, real estate, not-for-profit, retail and healthcare markets.
Itopia is a provider of hosted IT infrastructure and software applications for enterprises of all sizes.
