New Hurricane Season Begins: eMazzanti Ready to Weather the Storm, Protect Business Data
Hoboken, NJ and NYC, New York, Jul 16, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) --
The official 2013 hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. A new article in Channel Pro magazine documents how eMazzanti Technologies, an IT and computer expert in the Hoboken, NJ and New York City areas, got hundreds of its customers up and running again in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
Dealing with disaster is in the DNA of eMazzanti Technologies as the company was organized just across the river from the NYC World Trade Center and just two weeks prior to the fateful September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. It spent the ensuring weeks helping new clients in lower Manhattan overcome technical and logistical business problems in order to survive.
The lesson of being prepared was not lost on the IT firm as it historically learned to deal with previous disasters such as winter storm Nemo, Hurricane Irene and, recently, Hurricane Sandy, each taking its toll on northeastern businesses.
"We practice what we preach," says Jennifer Mazzanti, president, eMazzanti Technologies. "The eCare Disaster Recovery Solution that incorporates StorageCraft's ShadowProtect(R) was first used to get our customers and our own IT firm back online. All were up and going again in 72-hours or less."

Flexibility Addresses Client Need
In the beginning, a majority of eMazzanti's business was break-fix oriented. When companies had computer and network problems, eMazzanti was called to repair them and get the business up and running again.
Today, however, about one third of eMazzanti's business portfolio is equipment sales, one-third consulting and one-third recurring revenue resulting in a consistent 20 percent growth every year for the last 12 years.
Disaster Protection Solutions
eMazzanti has also learned to partner with various software and hardware vendors such as Microsoft, WatchGuard, HP, Xerox and StorageCraft --bundled with its IT expertise--to create disaster protection solutions for its customers.
For example, tapping the power of StoreageCraft's Shadow Protect software, it developed a customized eCare Business Continuity Solution was which takes frequent, complete, pristine images of all computers, operating systems, applications, services and settings.
The eCare Business Continuity Solution allows eMazzanti customers to replicate backup images to the cloud or to a secure offsite location. When disasters strike, the backups can be rapidly launched as virtual machines or mounted to hard drives as needed. Complete data restoration can take minutes or hours versus days, weeks---or never.
The Right Vendor Helps Ensure the Right Recovery
"StorageCraft(R) ShadowProtect(R) was a game changer," Jennifer Mazzanti, president, explains. "Tapes were a nightmare--unreliable backups, usually managed by a client's low-level employee, plus the high implementation and maintenance costs of tape backups."
"The conversation about conversion from tape to disk based system often is less than two weeks. Almost always we were convert customers to StorageCraft," Carl says. "That includes one recent customer trying to manage 39 backup tapes a month, who now will never have to use one again. Soon 100 percent of our customers will be on ShadowProtect coupled with our eCare Business Continuity Service."
Jennifer says StorageCraft has also helped them improve customer relationships.
"Choosing StorageCraft for business continuity was one of the smartest decisions we made," she adds. "ShadowProtect is cost-effective for our clients. Plus, it is more reliable. We know that the system works, and we easily test and prove to our customers that their business recovery concerns are covered as advertised. That is something we can use to maintain a good relationship with our clients."
"Within 72 hours of Sandy, we recovered all of our customers," noted Carl Mazzanti, CEO. "With that we not only kept 100% of our customer base, we have expanded another 50% since Sandy."
"The recovery was a great StorageCraft performance. We ordered new parts, used StorageCraft to bring systems back up, and with StorageCraft virtualization, we had customers up and running before the new hardware arrived," Carl says. "StorageCraft saved the day."
Preparation Means Power
eMazzanti practices what it preaches. It was prepared against its own data loss way ahead of the hurricanes. It gave the IT expert the power to significantly, and rapidly, help its customers.
"Our biggest lesson from Sandy was that it is just as important to treat our own site as 'a client.' We tend to be client-focused in any emergency," Jennifer says. "At a bare minimum we need to be up and running or we can not help anyone else. In the days before Sandy hit, every eMazzanti employee was moved to a customer support role, checking backups and making sure clients were as prepared as possible.
