Twisted Pair Partners with Kenwood NEXEDGE

Mar 19, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Twisted Pair Solutions, a provider of communication solutions, announced that it will partner with Kenwood to enable direct IP communication between Kenwood NEXEDGE radio systems and WAVE software, with expected rollout in the Fall of 2013.

According to a release, users of Kenwood NEXEDGE systems will no longer be required to use donor radios to extend their NEXEDGE voice communications to PCs, and smartphones, or for connectivity with other LMR systems supported by WAVE, allowing NEXEDGE deployments to be more scalable, efficient and cost-effective.

"We are excited to partner with Kenwood to provide customers with unprecedented choice for their secure, mobile communications needs," said Tom Guthrie, Twisted Pair's President and CEO. "Enterprises will be able to extend access from their NEXEDGE systems to a broad variety of smartphone and tablets, PC and web applications, and other mobile computing devices using WAVE, allowing for integrated, secure group and point-to-point communications among all users and providing the flexibility to leverage the appropriate device for each business role." In compliance with the NXDN protocol, WAVE seamlessly connects Kenwood NEXEDGE portables and mobiles to the full suite of WAVE applications, the company said. The IP interface delivers digital voice and data over a single IP link into the NEXEDGE system so that WAVE can access subscriber unit IDs, support alarm messages including man down, capture GPS coordinates, send and receive text messages and status messages and provide status and presence.

John North, General Manager of Kenwood's Systems Department said, "We're excited about Twisted Pair's suite of WAVE products especially the desktop, dispatch and smartphone solutions that have a definite place with many of our enterprise and government customers. Imagine empowering administrators or law enforcement officials with the ability to use their smartphones to talk into their private LMR radio systems to individuals or whole departments for routine or incident communications. Twisted Pair's product licensing offers Kenwood dealers a way to make recurring revenue and the enterprise packaging can offer both dealers and my systems sales staff configurations for large project proposal."
