Patton Ships SmartNode VoIP IADs with ADSL Interface
GAITHERSBURG, Md. & BERN, Switzerland --(Business Wire)--
Patton (News - Alert) Electronics is now shipping two new SmartNode
VoIP Integrated Access Devices (IAD) with a built-in 24-Mbps ADSL2+ WAN
interface.
The integrated ITU G.992.5 ADSL modem lowers equipment costs, simplifies
network architecture and streamlines service deployment for
carrier-providers and small-to-medium enterprises.
The new Patton PRI-class
and BRI-class
VoIP IADs combine ADSL WAN-access with VoIP gateway and VoIP router
functionality in a single device.
Patton's one-box solution eliminates the cost and complexity of an
external ADSL modem-in addition to the VoIP CPE-when IP-enabling legacy
PBX (News - Alert) phone systems. The ADSL IADs present a common interface to the
service provider regardless of the voice equipment on the customer
premise.
"ADSL is the most popular broadband access technology in the world
today," said Tyler Delin, Product Marketing Manager for SartNode. "Yet
hardly any PRI gateway manufacturers offer it. Based on market research
and customer feedback. . . we knew
this would be a hot product. Judging by incoming orders… building these
products was a good management decision."
Worldwide DSL subscribers number over 314 million. Roughly 50 million
ADSL ports shipped last year-more than any other DSL variant. Patton is
among the industry's first manufacturers to offer carrier-grade PRI VoIP
IADs with a built-in ADSL interface. ADSL upstream bandwidth supports
15-30 VoIP calls, which covers the majority of PRI installations.
The ITU G.992.5 ADSL2+ interface is available on Patton's SmartNode
4670 BRI/FXS/FXO VoIP IAD supporting 8 to 16 calls and SmartNode
4990 PRI/T1/E1 VoIP IAD supporting 15 to 120 calls. Both are
ideal for connecting traditional PBX telephony systems with ITSPs and
SIP trunking services.
"Customers can use these one-box solutions to IP-enable their PBX with
24-Mbps ADSL WAN access," Tyler adds. "SmartNode also provides advanced
IP routing with upstream QoS and Patton's DownStreamQoS-with
the industry's lowest total cost of ownership."
Patton products come with free
gold-standard customer support, lowering total-cost-of-ownership
(TCO), often by half. Most manufacturers require costly support
contracts or per-hour charges; Patton provides free lifetime
support-including downloadable software updates-at no additional charge.
