Fortemedia Announces New Voice Processing Solution for Automotive Industry
SUNNYVALE, Calif. --(Business Wire)--
Fortemedia Inc. (www.Fortemedia.com),
the world leader in voice processing technology, today announced its new
automotive voice processor, FM-1288. Many countries have banned the use
of mobile phones while driving unless it is in hands-free mode. However,
the use of a headset while driving can be uncomfortable and
inconvenient. Therefore, automotive built-in, Bluetooth-based,
hands-free communication systems have been steadily increasing.
Substantially tested in Fortemedia's automotive laboratory facility, and
also live in various on-road conditions, the FM-1288 has been verified
to pass the automotive standards testing. With effective GUI-based
tuning-tool supports and simple interconnects, the FM-1288 is designed
to provide a cost-effective and easy-to-integrate solution for
automotive applications.
Fortemedia's FM-1288 voice processor integrates a powerful DSP subsystem
for voice processing. It can be connected to external devices with both
analog and digital signal paths. The on-chip DA and A/D data paths
support a HD (wideband) voice signal, and it supports up to two
microphones for voice inputs. The voice processing on FM-1288 is
designed specifically to meet demanding automotive applications, and
contains state-of-the-art algorithms to suppress wind noise, road noise
and engine noise commonly encountered in vehicles, while preserving the
naturalness of the talker's voice signals. The Bight Voice Enhancement
processing also intelligently equalizes the loudspeaker output based on
the condition of the ambient noise to make sure that the inbound voice
stands out in a noisy environment. The automotive grade FM-1288 is
available on a 48-pin LQFP package. The high performance Acoustic Echo
Cancellation on the FM-1288 also makes it suitable for other hands-free
voice applications such as VoIP and conferencing products.
"The release of FM-1288 further indicates Fortemedia's continued
commitment to the automotive industry. Our products are equally
successful in automotive markets as well as in mobile phone and laptop
markets," said Paul Huang, CEO and chairman of Fortemedia Inc. "The
FM-1288 provides a safe and reliable communication solution while
driving."
The mass production of FM-1288 is expected by the end of Q1, 2013 and
engineering samples are now available for selected customers. A leading
car manufacturer has already adopted FM-1288 into their upcoming
Audio-Video-Navigation (AVN) unit for both their U.S. and international
SUV model.
