GE Details Proficy Vision
Feb 12, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) --
GE Intelligent Platforms announced the availability of its newest member of the Proficy software platform, Proficy Vision.
According to a release, this operational dashboard brings together web-based content from other Proficy software solutions and third-party displays into one environment. By aggregating and organizing content in the context of the plant structure, Proficy Vision delivers a single view of operations to drive production improvement.
Proficy Vision enables users to have their web-enabled content side-by-side in the same application, allowing them to see the information they need to get their job done. The software offers a single place to display both structured data (ERP, EAM, MES, SCADA, etc.) and unstructured data (social business, spreadsheets, news feeds, etc.) for a convenient one-stop view.
"Success for manufacturing and infrastructure businesses increasingly relies on broad, secure access to cross-enterprise information enabled by the Industrial Internet," said Don Busiek, General Manager Manufacturing Software for GE Intelligent Platforms. "Only with timely and relevant insights can businesses truly optimize operational performance."
Providing relevant and cross-enterprise insights, Proficy Vision aggregates disparate interfaces and information with a unified context for better, faster decisions. It delivers a role-specific user interface for maximum efficiency, allowing users to anticipate, collaborate and orchestrate responses to dynamic operational conditions with greater agility and precision.
"Disparate systems, limited resources, and multiple roles and responsibilities often create silos of information that limit visibility and make collaboration and driving operational improvements difficult," Busiek continued. "With Proficy Vision, users can organize content the way they want, whether that means tying content to a piece of equipment or within a specific area of the facility - putting data they need at their fingertips when they need it."
Bill Fritz, Director of Waterford Township, Michigan Department of Public Works, sees that Proficy Vision capability as a benefit for his facility. With both Water and Wastewater operations, he can see if an event on one side of his house affected something on the other side without having to dump data and overlay one program on top of the other.
"First and foremost, it's a time saver," Fritz said. "By pulling everything into one environment, it allows easier access to information and becomes a one-stop shop to view all of my web-based applications. It allows us to coordinate everything and that makes it a dispatching tool for us." Waterford Township's Department of Public Works has several applications online including vehicle locating, SCADA, flow monitoring, security and HVAC.
