Authorities probe hacking of Bush family e-mails, photos
HOUSTON, Feb 08, 2013 (Xinhua via COMTEX) --
A criminal investigation is
underway into who hacked e-mail accounts belonging to members of
the Bush family, U.S. media reported Friday.
A Bush family spokesman confirmed authorities are conducting an
investigation into the hacking, according to local TV channel
ABC13.
The hacker, who went by the online moniker "Guccifer," gained
access to Dorothy Bush's e-mail exchanges between friends and
family members, including her father, former U.S. president George
H.W. Bush, and her brother George W. Bush, according to report by
the Houston Chronicle.
Information such as telephone numbers, pictures and gate access
codes were posted online for all to see, the report said.
The website Smoking Gun displayed photos it said came from the
hacker, including one that appears to show the elder Bush during
his recent near-two-month stay in a Houston hospital with a
bronchial infection.
The word "Guccifer" is plastered across the photos published on
the Smoking Gun website. The website quotes "Guccifer" as
describing himself as a veteran hacker who has long been in the
government's sights.
