Sidera upgrades MetroCast's 10Gb connections with 100Gb capacity connections

Feb 07, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Sidera Networks, a provider of fiber optic-based network solutions, has upgraded MetroCast Communications's 10Gb connections between Rochester, New Hampshire and Boston, Massachusetts as well as Ashburn, Virginia and Leonardtown, Maryland with 100Gb capacity connections.

Sidera currently provides multiple 10Gb backbone connections to MetroCast and will now provide 100Gb transport connectivity to peering points in Ashburn, VA and Boston, MA. The upgrade of MetroCast's network to 100Gb provides the capacity to serve its residential and business video, Internet and voice subscribers, as well as Enterprise clients who are served through a suite of Metro Ethernet products, including Dedicated Internet Access, Point-to-Point/Point-to-Multi-Point, and Digital Business Trunking, the company said.

"This is a significant announcement as it represents one of the Industry's few client-facing 100Gb network connection installations," said Clint Heiden, President of Sidera Networks. "Sidera is well known for its ultra low-latency and diverse network. Now we have added the ability to scale and deliver any amount of capacity to meet the demands of large network, video and content providers throughout our footprint." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
