Hannon Hill Releases Cascade Server 7.2 Featuring Several User Interface Improvements
Atlanta, GA, Feb 06, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) --
Hannon Hill Corporation, creator of the most popular enterprise content management system (CMS) in Higher Education, has released Cascade Server Version 7.2 after beta testing the release among its client base. This release focuses primarily on improvements to the user interface for both content contributors and site administrators, and it includes several performance improvements.
User Interface ("UI") improvements for content contributors include the ability to now drag 'n drop pages and files within a site. This means that users can now literally rearrange their site structure with just their mouse. With Cascade Server's long-time feature of tracked links, users can move pages within the site, knowing their internal links will remain intact. Content contributors and editors can also rest assured that edits will not be accidentally lost because Cascade Server 7.2 now introduces auto-saving of drafts. In addition, other UI upgrades geared toward content contributors include improvements to the WYSIWYG, such as guided embedding of YouTube and Vimeo videos, support for decorative images within content to stay W3C accessibility compliant, and better mobile support for edits made via mobile devices.
In addition to UI improvements, Cascade Server 7.2 also has many features geared toward specifically enabling rapid development and management of assets in the CMS. Cascade Server now has custom code sections to support development of non-XML content often used by things like HTML5 Boilerplate templates, an updated XSLT and Velocity editor with inline preview abilities, and an improved UI for easier management of dynamic metadata options. Administrators will also now be able to take advantage of a user-friendly interface for LDAP syncing, support for the use of MySQL 5.5, the ability to send publish reports to selected users, and the ability to easily audit access and permissions for users across various sites.
"I'm excited about using the improved HTML5 support features within Cascade Server 7.2, as this new version continues to build on the existing standards-compliant and language-agnostic platform that Cascade Server is known for," commented Jason Aller, Web Application Developer at UC Davis School of Law, one of Hannon Hill's long-time higher education clients.
"I am particularly delighted about the improvements to the formats editing interface," said Hannon Hill Services Manager, Penny Harding. "Previously, developers would utilize external tools to test XSLT against specific XML before applying it to a page. Now developers can test XSLT and Velocity against XML right inside the XSLT and Velocity editing interface. This will definitely allow for even more rapid development within Cascade Server."
Hannon Hill's customers have been notified of the release and can download and install the newest version by visiting the Cascade Server downloads page. For more information, please see the Cascade Server 7.2 Release Notes or sign up for the 7.2 Release Webinar on Tuesday, February 28 at 2 PM EST.
