BRIEF: It's official: HP is rolling out a Pavilion Chromebook laptop

Feb 04, 2013 (Los Angeles Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Hewlett-Packard is officially introducing its first Chromebook laptop, a $329.99 machine with a larger screen than any other Google-powered computer on the market.

The computer, formally named the "HP Pavilion Chromebook," was expected after a file was discovered on HP's website last week with details about the laptop.

The standout feature on the HP Pavilion Chromebook is its 14-inch display, which has a 1,366 by 768 pixel resolution. The screen is larger than that of other Chromebook laptops, which offer 11.6-inch and 12-inch displays.

Additionally, the HP Pavilion Chromebook runs on an Intel Celeron 847 dual-core 1.1GHz processor. It comes with 16 gigabytes of internal storage and an additional 100 GB of cloud storage with Google.

The laptop also comes with an HD webcam, an HDMI port, three USB 2.0 ports and a memory card slot. HP says the Pavilion Chromebook has a 4.25-hour battery life.

The new Chromebook can be purchased now online.
