Caringo Ranks as 2012 Product of the Year Finalist for Storage System Software

Caringo, a provider of object storage software, announced that it is a finalist in the enterprise storage system software category of the Storage magazine/SearchStorage.com 2012 Product of the Year competition.
According to a release, Caringo was honored for its Caringo CAStor 6.0 object storage software with Elastic Content Protection (ECP). Criteria for selection was based on demonstrated technical solutions, worth, functionality, performance, ease of integration into existing data storage infrastructures, and ease of use and manageability.
"It's not easy for data storage systems to excel based on such demanding and diverse criteria under any circumstance, but emerging as a finalist for the 2012 Product of the Year awards is a particularly noteworthy achievement after a year that featured dramatic strides in storage technologies and practices related to cloud services, flash storage, virtual server and desktop environments, data protection and a rethinking of traditional storage array architectures," read the nomination announcement. "For a product to distinguish itself in such an active environment is no small feat."
Caringo said its CAStor 6.0 object storage software with Elastic Content Protection (ECP) provides data protection functionality, allowing organizations to meet any storage SLA, optimize deployment footprint and enhance data accessibility regardless of the volume, velocity or variability of unstructured information.ECP uses replication and erasure coding and leverages Caringo's automated health monitoring and recovery to optimize responsiveness as capacity grows.
