Nirvanix Provides Direct Connections to Cloud Storage at CoreSite

Nirvanix, a company focusing on enterprise-class cloud storage services, announced a collaborative effort with CoreSite Realty Corp., a national provider of network-rich data centers, to provide direct connections to Nirvanix cloud storage at CoreSite's One Wilshire data center campus in Los Angeles.
By offering direct connections to Nirvanix cloud storage services, Nirvanix said new and existing CoreSite customers can establish a private network connection between their owned or managed IT infrastructure and the Nirvanix Cloud Storage Network—providing immediate access to the Nirvanix Cloud File System designed to support millions of users, billions of objects and exabytes of data. With this service, customers can bypass Internet service providers to affect throughput, gain consistent network performance, enhance security, and adjust costs while adding cloud storage capabilities to their existing IT portfolio.
"Nirvanix is the most logical progression from the enterprise data center to the enterprise cloud for applications such as backup, archive and large-scale content collaboration," said Dru Borden, CEO of Nirvanix. "As a result of this collaborative effort, CoreSite customers running a cloud computing environment or a SAN storage infrastructure can now establish an immediate and direct connection into our cloud storage services for on-demand storage capacity, availability and bandwidth. This provides them with anytime, anywhere data access through live replicas spread across a global grid, enabling workflow and content collaboration across multiple diverse locations while maintaining data consistency."
According to a release, Nirvanix is offering private, hybrid, and public deployment options. CoreSite customers who choose Nirvanix Hybrid Cloud Storage have an optimal solution, including a direct connection to a Nirvanix node deployed at the secure CoreSite data center, enabling them to maintain cloud storage capacity on premises for frequently accessed or confidential data plus access to the Nirvanix public cloud for on-demand capacity and bandwidth, supporting cloudbursting during peak business hours.

Nirvanix noted that CoreSite customers can directly connect to Nirvanix Cloud Storage services via a standard, single-mode fiber 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps Ethernet cross connection or Any2 internet exchange connection, ordered via the MyCoreSite online customer portal. In addition, customers have concurrent access to public and private resources. Nirvanix direct connections can be partitioned into multiple logical connections, enabling customers to use the same physical connection to access public and private resources.
