DisplayLink Spotlights New USB Power Delivery Charging PC Notebooks
Jan 09, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) --
DisplayLink, a provider of USB Graphics technology, announced it will demonstrate the new USB Power Delivery capability in the USB Techzone at CES 2013.
The demonstration will show a USB Power Delivery Monitor Dock charging a full size notebook with a single USB cable. DisplayLink Technology provides USB Graphics, Video, Gigabit Ethernet, Audio and multiple USB connections for external peripherals simultaneously over the same USB cable.
In a release, the company noted that DisplayLink's technology is deployed in USB Docking Stations within Fortune 500 companies globally, providing flexibility to IT Managers to connect notebooks and tablets over a single USB cable. The new USB Power Delivery specification takes this capability to the next level by delivering up to 100 Watts of charging power to a notebook over the same cable. The new USB Power Delivery specification defines power outputs as high as 100 Watts, far greater than current USB 3 specification of 0.9 Watts. This new capability also has application for future DisplayLink enabled USB bus powered monitors enabling larger screen sizes. DisplayLink's technology is ready to work in conjunction with the new USB PD specification.
"We're truly excited about the upcoming USB Power Delivery solutions, which we believe will cement USB as the docking connector of choice for all notebooks and tablets," said John Cummins, Vice President Sales and Marketing for DisplayLink. "This is a snapshot of connectivity to come, and we are very happy to show to interested parties at CES 2013 in Las Vegas."
