New Rental and Asset Tracking Solutions at NRF 2013, KIOSK Information Systems

Jan 09, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- At the 2013 NRF Big Show, KIOSK Information Systems (KIOSK) will demonstrate their "LockSpot" Self-Service Rental Platform, designed to automate and streamline repeat rental / check-out transactions.

According to a release, the platform incorporates a unique patent-pending RFID tracking and locking mechanism that secures and tracks items while in use.

According to a release,d customers or store associates can check out their equipment using the kiosk user interface or their smart phone. Database sign-up is easy, requiring basic user information entry and a quick card swipe (payment card for rentals, RFID embedded associate cards for shift check-out). Assets are secured at the modular LockSpot stations with KIOSK's new "Bullet-Lock" attachment, scaled to fit the item's size and shape. The mechanism contains an RFID chip that is affixed to the rental / check-out item, which communicates to an RFID antenna that resides in the kiosk station.

KIOSK CEO Tom Weaver states, "The key benefits of the technology are the low cost, and scalability of the lock and related docking station. It works as well with a hand-held associate scanner or a set of keys as it does with bulky rental tools and assets. Bullet-Lock docking stations can be neatly cabled to the kiosk, making expansion simple and very cost effective." KIOSK Product Development Director, Rick Malone, expands on the solution. "The embedded RFID technology affords a more accurate and streamlined tracking methodology, improving accountability and reducing loss of expensive associate and rental property. It ensures a closed loop rental, checkout, and intelligent return of each specific item. The platform features were born from the best of several RFID rental solutions KIOSK has designed over the years, and can be easily scaled to address a wide array of form factor needs. While not limited to retail, we see enormous potential for modular in-store application." KIOSK Solution Managers will demo the new LockSpot platform, including both rental and locker solutions. KIOSK's full NRF portfolio of retail self-service solutions includes endless aisle, loyalty, in-store bill payment, rental & locker solutions, and automated retail delivery systems.

KIOSK provides expertise in design engineering; application development, integration, manufacturing, and field support for self-service platforms.
