CMS Products Announces First-Ever USB 3.0 500 Gigabyte Laptop Self-Encrypting OPAL Drive Solution

CMS Products Inc., a leading innovator in data backup, encryption and security technology for business users and consumers, today announced the availability of the first-ever self-encrypting USB Laptop Self-Encrypting drive (SED) that meets the Opal standard from Trusted Computing Group (TCG). CE-Secure DiskVault is designed to more than double a laptop's internal storage capacity and is available in commercial as well as government (FIPS 140-2 Level 2) grades.

The Opal standard was created by the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), which develops open standards for secue computing. The TCG Opal standard is designed to ensure interoperability across vendors, technologies and platforms. While traditional SEDs based on the Opal standard have shipped for several years, this is the first time a 500 gigabyte (GB) USB 3.0 laptop drive has earned the distinction.
