Stonesoft Announces the World's First All-Terrain, Military-Grade Next Generation Firewall
ATLANTA --(Business Wire)--
The network security vendor Stonesoft today announced the new Stonesoft
MIL-320 Next Generation Firewall/VPN appliance that provides
military-grade network security in a rugged go-anywhere unit. Today's
information security is often deployed outside controlled datacenters
and other stable environments, but needs to function in extreme
conditions. The MIL-320 utilizes Stonesoft's thorough data stream-based
normalization and deep inspection across all protocols and network
layers to detect and prevent cyber attacks, including those delivered by
Advanced Evasion Techniques.
The MIL-320 appliance packs AET-resistant, high-performance network
security into a tough and compact form, certified for high-performance
operations in extreme temperatures, wet, mud and dust. Each unit is
small, heavy duty, resistant to bumps and shocks, and available in black
or military green. The MIL-320 is highly portable, quick to configure,
and ready for planned or rapid deployments.
Secure communication with MIL-certified battlefield readiness
Armed forces have a particular, life-saving need for the rapid mass
deployment of security appliances in hostile conditions. Modern military
operations increasingly demand secure networks for the command, control
and administration of deployed forces.
Signals and network defense specialists in the modern military are
required to facilitate distributed operations with robust, secure,
high-performance networks that enable situational awareness, reliable
communications, and even collaborative working and office tools in the
field. The Stonesoft MIL-320 is straightforward to deploy in mechanized
forces, infantry or in fixed installations.
MIL-320 offers industry-leading protection against sophisticated attacks
and includes a WLAN and ad-hoc mesh network support for resilient,
strongly encrypted local communication links and data transfer between
deployed units. The solution also provides unique features like the
capability for using custom encryption ciphers from a connected USB
stick.
Securing critical networks can save lives
Industrial digital networks, especially those of utilities, like power
generation and water supply, or transport infrastructure, are vital to
our way of life. Securing these critical networks in the face of
increasingly sophisticated cyber attacks can save lives.
With the Stonesoft MIL-320, robust military-grade cyber security is
possible - and easy to configure nd manage - even in the most hostile
environments, where freezing temperatures, sand or moisture renders
lesser appliances useless. In storm force conditions on the dockside, at
temporary border crossings, in law enforcement, remote depots, major
events, underground rail links, on land and sea, intelligent network
security is vital to protect the data flow, safety and wellbeing of
businesses and societies.
Efficient protection against Advanced Evasion Techniques (AETs)
Stonesoft has pioneered world-leading research into Advanced Evasion
Techniques (AETs) - the sophisticated exploit delivery methods used by
hackers, cyber criminals and nation states to stealthily bypass
conventional network security appliances.
All Stonesoft products utilize thorough data stream based normalization
and inspection across all protocols and network layers - to detect AETs
and prevent perimeter penetration. Tests of rival security products
easily reveal their fundamental flaws and failure to detect AETs. The
network security industry is still relying on "fingerprint" analysis of
known exploit signatures -putting lives and businesses at risk. The
Stonesoft MIL-320, like all Stonesoft solutions, is AET-ready. The
MIL-320 offers superb network throughput performance and is ready for
any environment - in single or mass deployment.
"With the MIL-320, network security can now be made available at
locations and conditions where this has never been possible before,"
said Antti. Kuvaja, Director, Product Management at Stonesoft.
"The appliance differs from traditional enterprise next generation
firewall/IPS solutions through its water and dust shielding
capabilities, resistance to bumps, shocks and vibrations and wide
operating temperature range. You can drop it from the helicopter or
drive over it with a tank and you will stay secured. Moreover, the
solution beats traditional military solutions with its unseen
combination of the latest network security, centralized management and
better performance. It offers also much better environmental protection,
security and strong inspection capabilities and performance than
traditional industrial solutions. In short, the MIL-320 is first of its
kind and unbeatable, literally."
Availability
The Stonesoft MIL-320 will be available for shipping in the beginning of
2013.
