CA Technologies Powers CBN Cloud Services in Indonesia
Dec 04, 2012 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) --
CA (NASDAQ: CA) today announced that CBN, a leading Internet and communications services provider (CSP) in Indonesia, has selected the CA AppLogic® cloud platform to establish CBN Cloud, designed to offer extensive cloud computing services for its corporate and retail customers.
CBN Indonesia is in a highly competitive market, where it owns and operates 300 km of fiber optic connecting over 200 buildings, offices, apartments and shopping plazas in Jakarta as part of its traditional Internet services offerings. With CBN Cloud, the company envisioned providing cloud computing services for corporate and retail customers as a new business model. The CA AppLogic solution will enable CBN Cloud to stay ahead of the technology curve by providing a comprehensive suite of cloud computing services.
CBN Cloud is built on the CA AppLogic cloud platform that enables users to develop a virtual business service consisting of the application and the supporting infrastructure, to provide a wide range of Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service and Software-as-a-Service (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) offerings.
CBN selected the CA AppLogic platform over competing products based on its differentiated features, which include the ability to package application software with infrastructure, rapid deployment and fully automated provisioning -- as well as CA Technologies flexible licensing and exceptional service.
"We chose CA AppLogic due to its market differentiation and ease of use. We are particularly impressed by the rapid deployment to the cloud and flexibility. We also appreciate the improved application performance and reliability after switching to the platform," said Tony Hairman, Chief Technology Officer, CBN. "We were able to implement the solution independently without a need for a third party system integrator. CA Technologies demonstrated a keen understanding of our business needs -- which include the right services, the right licensing terms, and the right long-term roadmap -- in addition to the right technology."
The CA AppLogic platform enables an organization to establish a cloud computing environment in mere hours, including the features needed to operate and manage the cloud. Before implementing CA AppLogic, the hardware and software integration, and installation for a new customer would require a lead time between five days and two weeks. With CA AppLogic, CBN Cloud estimates they could set up a new customer between five and 30 minutes.
Using CA AppLogic, CBN Cloud can integrate, monitor and scale applications and infrastructure with just a GUI allowing CBN Cloud to scale quickly without changing complex code or architecture.
In turn, many of the benefits of CA AppLogic created additional value and savings for CBN Cloud customers, which hail from various industries--from financial services, to online and traditional news publications and e-commerce sites. They stand to benefit from cost reduction in equipment requirements, a pay-as-you-use billing scheme, convenience and rapid scalability through virtualization.
"A cloud deployment may seem like a daunting task for an enterprise or CSP to embark on, but the process can be optimized with the right solution," said Manivannan Govindan, Director, Solution Strategy, CA Technologies, Asia South. "This project is a prime example of how CBN Cloud recognizes CA Technologies to be an ideal partner to accelerate and transform their cloud offerings in a rapid and simple manner, while controlling costs and ensuring the compliance of their IT operations."
The CBN Cloud service provides ready-to-use hardware, software and infrastructure on a monthly billing structure, with any additional costs based only incremental capacity requirements. The flexible and automated nature of virtualization technologies allow for self-provisioning, easier management for organizations and service providers alike in today's world of dynamic IT transformation.
