Easy Solutions Study Reveals Views of Latin American Consumers on Electronic Fraud

Easy Solutions, the leading online fraud prevention company, recently completed a new study examining the views of Latin American consumers on electronic fraud. Survey participants from all over Latin America, including the Caribbean and Brazil, were interviewed about their experiences and opinions concerning electronic services such as online and mobile banking and ATMs. The study revealed important customer insights for financial institutions and online service providers in the region.

According to the study, electronic fraud is the main factor discouraging the use of online banking and e-commerce. Considering the amount of phishing and other attacks in Latin America and around the world, these participants are right to worry. Over the past 12 months the Easy Solutions team detected 800,000 unique phishing attacks worldwide.

"The study shows that users expect and are willing to use additional security methods offered by banks, and that it is posible to generate more trust in electronic channels with new technological tools and educational campaigns," says Silvia Lopez, Marketing Director of Easy Solutions.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE STUDY

• 37% of online users said they have installed some type of protection program other than antivirus software on their computers, which shows a willingness to use these kinds of solutions.
• 40% of online users say they have never heard of Phishing threats, and 50% do not know about Malware. Less than 30% of online users have heard of of Man-in-the-Middle and Man-in-the-Browser attacks.
