Oct 04, 2012 (Albuquerque Journal - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
James Currier, 66, was killed after being struck by two vehicles near the intersection of Lomas and Eubank NE around 6:40 a.m. Wednesday, according to Albuquerque Police Department spokeswoman Officer Tasia Martinez.
Currier was struck by a gray Ford pickup driven by Arthur Martin, 74, and then was run over by a second vehicle, a 2002 blue Hyundai driven by Manuel Adams, 49, Martinez said in an emailed update.
Adams continued to drive to work but later learned after talking to his wife that he had run over a person, and he returned to the scene, where he was booked on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant, Martinez said.
The preliminary crash report lists "pedestrian error" on the part of Currier and "driver inattention" and "failure to yield right of way" with regard to Adams' actions, according to the APD.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the incident, and police will forward the case to the District Attorney's Office for determination of any charges in relation to the case, the update said.
