Fines for slack privacy protection now closer

Sep 17, 2012 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- An Australian parliamentary committee has recommended that new laws be introduced that would fine companies up to $A1.1m for serious or repeated breaches of privacy laws. A senate committee that is also considering the bill is due to table its findings in late September 2012. Recent privacy breaches involving companies including Telstra, AAPT and LinkedIn heightened concern about the issue.
