TimeSight Intelligent Networked Video Surveillance Gains Recognition in Hollywood

MT. LAUREL, N.J., April 6, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- TimeSight Systems(TM), the industry leader in video lifecycle management (VLM) for video surveillance, announced today that Paramount Pictures, a global producer and distributor of filmed entertainment, has joined a growing list of clients that are leveraging TimeSight's new IP-based architecture to increase span of surveillance video coverage, enhance quality of retained video, greatly extend retention times, and lower total cost & footprint.

TimeSight clients across multiple industries have leveraged this technology, and include, along with Paramount Pictures, notable names such as Altera Corporation and The Tech Museum. "We had three main issues: coverage, quality, and retention," states Clint Hilbert, Vice President of Environmental Health, Safety, and Security at Paramount Pictures. "We have virtually a small city to cover, with thousands of people crossing our grounds daily, and we need excellent video coverage to enhance our safety and security services. Finally, we needed to be able to find and retrieve video spanning back months to provide excellent research capabilities -- something that is difficult to accomplish with high resolution video due to the enormous costs associated with storage." As with most TimeSight Systems users, Paramount embarked upon an aggressive technology refresh based upon the TimeSight's VLM-enabled intelligent network video recorders (NVR). The VLM system can capture existing legacy cameras as well as newer IP-based network cameras. For Paramount, the camera count is in the hundreds -- a number similar to many medium-sized cities across the United States. In addition, Hilbert's team will have access to video up to a year from the date of recording, which will allow them to perform research, satisfy audit requirements, and have an excellent forensic investigative tool.

The entire back-end recording system to support the full camera network, along with a full year of recording, will fit into a system less than two feet high -- a fraction of the space normally required. This frees up not only valuable square footage, but greatly reduces the power, cooling, and operational costs normally required with storage and servers to support a network of this size.

"Paramount has always been an industry leader, and they continue that pace by implementing the type of system that more and more users are moving to," said Charles Foley, CEO of TimeSight Systems. "Today's users want high-resolution video, longer retention, and a networked configuration that saves on footprint and dollars, while giving greater safety and security. That's exactly what the TimeSight system delivers to Paramount." The TimeSight system was installed by TimeSight partner Niscayah, one of the largest security integrators in the United States. "We take very seriously our role as security technology consultant to our strategic accounts, and have to marry their business objectives with technology to achieve those objectives," commented Alex San Juan, Business Development Executive for Niscayah. "The TimeSight VLM system is radically new technology that allows us to deploy higher quality video on smaller server/storage footprint, and that's a win-win situation for everyone."
