Axis Presents Highest Quality PTZ Dome Network Cameras with HDTV 1080p and 20x Zoom for Critical Surveillance

CHELMSFORD, Mass. --(Business Wire)--

Axis Communications, the global leader in the network video market, today presents its top-of-the-line HDTV 1080p, full frame rate at 30 frames per second (fps), pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) dome network cameras with 20x optical zoom for the ultimate in video quality and performance. The indoor and outdoor-ready AXIS Q6035/-E PTZ Dome Network Cameras also support 60 fps in HDTV 720p, enabling the capture of quick movements. The cameras are ideal for mission-critical and wide area surveillance applications such as at airports, stadiums and casinos, as well as for city and perimeter surveillance.

AXIS Q6035/-E cameras support day and night functionality for clearer video in low light conditions and wide dynamic range for better visibility of objects in dark and light areas of a scene. With 360° endless pan, they are robustly built for constant PTZ movements and support a tour recording functionality that makes it easy to set up automatic guard tour operations.

Due to its HDTV 1080p resolution, AXIS Q6035/-E's 20x zoom with autofocus provides a level of detail in zoomed-in views that is comparable to a 4CIF-resolution camera with more than twice the zoom ratio. In addition, the cameras provide the extra advantage of a wider, 16:9 field of view.

Axis (News - Alert) unveiled the new 1080p HDTV PTZ network cameras at ISC West 2011 in booth #18051.

"Axis' line of HDTV cameras that follow SMPTE standards have been incredibly popular with our integrator partners and mutual end-users, and now they can choose between the highest-quality 1080p video or the same frame rate in 720p that they experience in high-end home theatres - but in a PTZ format," said Fredrik Nilsson, geneal manager, Axis Communications Inc. "Not only will the video quality of the Q6035 amaze its users, especially when zooming in, but the additional features and functionality of these precision PTZ domes will help improve surveillance operations."

Complying with relevant parts of the SMPTE 274M standard, the cameras' HDTV 1080p entails a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, progressive scan, color fidelity, full frame rate and a 16:9 format. The cameras can deliver multiple, individually configurable H.264 and Motion JPEG video streams simultaneously. H.264 greatly optimizes bandwidth and storage use without compromising image quality.

The indoor AXIS Q6035 has an IP52 rating for protection against dust and dripping water, enabling the camera to function even when a sprinkler system is activated. The outdoor AXIS Q6035-E has IP66 and NEMA 4X ratings for protection against rain, snow, sun and dust, and incorporates Axis' unique Arctic Temperature Control, which allows the camera to start up safely even at -40 °F. No additional enclosures are needed, which saves time and money and minimizes potential installation mistakes.

Both indoor and outdoor models are powered using High Power over Ethernet (PoE), which further simplifies installation since only one cable is required for power, video and PTZ controls. Support for High PoE also means that the cameras can be connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply and continue to function even during a power failure.

With Active Gatekeeper, the cameras can automatically move to a preset position to capture, for instance, a vehicle license plate or a person's face when motion is detected in a pre-defined area, and then track the detected object. The cameras' support for AXIS Camera Application Platform also enables the installation of video analytic applications from Axis' partners.

The indoor AXIS Q6035 supports two-way audio and audio detection, and enables connection to external devices such as sensors and relays. Both models have a built-in SD/SDHC memory card slot that enables recordings to be stored locally.

AXIS Q6035/-E cameras provide the market's most advanced suite of security and network management capabilities. The cameras are ONVIF conformant and are supported by AXIS Camera Station video management software as well as the industry's largest base of application software through Axis' Application Development Partner program. AXIS Q6035/-E also feature AXIS Video Hosting System (AVHS) capabilities. The products will be available for order in Q2 2011 at the suggested retail price of $3,399 for AXIS Q6035 and $3,999 for AXIS Q6035-E.
