Pump Solutions Group Deploys Mimecast's Unified Email Management SolutionMar 24, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Mimecast, a supplier of cloud-based email security, continuity and archiving, announced the results of a partnership that automated the Pump Solutions Group's (PSG) email archiving and compliance and enhanced the company's anti-virus, anti-spam and business continuity practices. A division of Dover Corporation, PSG became unsatisfied with its on-premise IT environment in 2009 because of limited functionality and the need for the company to devote a server specifically to support its email management appliances. In addition, the system did not include centrally managed email archiving or compliance measures, meaning the company was forced to rely on employees to abide by import and export recordkeeping laws. This led to inconsistent compliance and a painfully slow message retrieval process that required an IT worker to manually search for messages. "Email has become so important to the business - without it our operations practically shut down," said Jeff Rountree, Global Network Manager for Pumps Solutions Group. "Given our wide-ranging needs, I assumed we would be looking for three separate products. However, Mimecast's Unified Email Management solution not only provided us with email security but archiving and continuity in a cost-effective, cloud-based platform. This has greatly simplified our IT operations, eliminating the need for a devoted server, thereby keeping the IT staff focused on major technology initiatives rather than standard maintenance." Rountree reports that Mimecast services have exceeded his expectations. Taking into account the actual cost of the Mimecast service plus savings in hardware, IT staff time and avoided consulting time, PSG estimates that it has reduced the cost of email services by 30 percent. "PSG is an excellent example of a company looking to greatly simplify its IT infrastructure through strategic cloud computing deployments," said Mimecast VP of Marketing, North America Samantha Stone. "Rather than simply replacing their ineffective on-premise point solutions, Rountree and his team thought creatively about their problem and chose a solution that solves PSG's business problems and creates new operational efficiencies."
