Travel scammers invade cyberspace

Sep 08, 2010 (The Age - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Many Australians are victims of cyber-crime. The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said that complaints rose by 16 per cent in the last year, with reported losses of $A69.9 million. One fraud involves an email hacker pretending to be a friend or family member who has lost a wallet while travelling overseas. They ask for money to be transferred to them. A report by Norton found that nearly 70 per cent of Australians have been a victim of cyber-crime.
