Dell starts shipping new ultra-portable laptop


(Telecomworldwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Computer manufacturer Dell (NASDAQ: DELL) yesterday announced that it is now shipping its Inspiron M101z ultra-portable laptop.

The company said that it new laptop, which weighs less than four pounds, can easily fit into a handbag or backpack but still delivers enough performance to cope with everyday tasks or deliver 'impressive' playback of streaming movies and HD videos.



The Inspiron M101z laptop features an AMD Athlon II Neo Mobile, integrated ATI graphics and its six cell rechargeable battery can last for in excess of six hours, according to Dell. It can be configured with up to 4GB of fast DDR memory and with an up to 320GB SATA hard drive. It also offers a built-in 1.3 megapixel WebCam, SRS premium Sound with two speakers, three USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, a VGA port and 7-in-1 media card reader. Communications options include integrated 10/100 Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0. Built in mobile broadband is expected to be available as an option in the autumn.

Dell offers a choice of operating systems including Windows 7 Home Premium together with a number of pre-installed applications including Syncables Desktop, Skype, Cozi Family Organizer and Microsoft Office 2010 Starter.


The Inspiron M101z with prices starting at USD449 with a one-year limited warranty as standard.
