ADTRAN's Total Access 5000 selected by WNM Communications

Jul 27, 2010 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- Provider of networking and communications equipment ADTRAN Inc (Nasdaq:ADTN) has been selected by WNM Communications (WNMC) to provide its ADTRAN's Total Access 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform (MSAP) for enhanced broadband deployment, Carrier Ethernet delivery, and next-generation services migration. Financial details were not available.

The ADTRAN solution will be used for Broadband DLC applications using ADSL2+ combo cards. Voice services will utilise industry standard GR-303 switch connections currently, with an upgrade path to SIP in the future with a simple provisioning change.

The company said that its solution also enables Carrier Ethernet applications for business customers as well as the flexibility to seamlessly support ATM and Gigabit Ethernet transport options.

The Total Access 5000 will also future-proof the network, allowing WNMC to transition to fibre services in the future without a forklift upgrade.

WNM Communications, formerly Western New Mexico Telephone Company, is an ILEC and CLEC service provider headquartered in Silver City, New Mexico.
