'French mobile, online games market to treble by 2014 - study'

Jun 29, 2010 (DMEUROPE via COMTEX) -- France's mobile and online video game revenues are forecast to more than treble to EUR 1.6 billion by 2014 from EUR 500 million in 2010, according to GfK. The market researcher estimates that this year, EUR 350 million will be spent on online PC games, EUR 50 million on online console games and EUR 100 million on mobile phone games. The overall game market, including consoles, console games and accessories, is forecast to slip to EUR 3.02 billion in 2010 from EUR 3.06 billion in 2009. The market peaked at EUR 3.27 billion in 2008, as sales of the three console makers' new products took off, then dropped by 12 percent in 2009. France's overall video game market is projected to grow by 25 percent to EUR 3.8 billion in 2014, driven by online and mobile games, which will represent 42 percent of the total in 2014, compared to 24 percent in 2010.
