BRIEF: UK police arrest two in connection with armed robbery

Jun 26, 2010 (The Lexington Herald-Leader - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- University of Kentucky police arrested two people Friday in connection with an armed robbery Wednesday night on campus.

Around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday in a parking lot on Press Avenue, two males approached the victim, who was using his cell phone, and demanded at knifepoint that he give them his personal belongings. The victim told them the only thing he had was his cell phone, which the robbers took, then ran toward Winnie Street.

At 2:39 p.m. Friday, UK police arrested Carlos Collins, 24, of Lexington, and a 17-year-old male juvenile on charges of first-degree robbery, according to a news release.

Both were found and arrested without incident at an apartment complex on Winnie Street, the release said.

Collins was taken to the Fayette County Detention Center, and the juvenile was turned over to the Fayette County Juvenile Detention facility, the release said.
