RCN Metro Becomes CENX Carrier Ethernet Exchange Member

Jun 02, 2010 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- CENX, operator of the connected Carrier Ethernet exchanges, announced that RCN Metro Optical Networks, a division of RCN Corporation and a provider of fiber optic-based network solutions, has become the latest connected member of its Carrier Ethernet exchanges.

This new CENX connection extends access to RCN Metro's Ethernet services footprint of key enterprise locations, opening up new wholesale business opportunities. With the same connection, CENX provides domestic and international reach for RCN Metro's customers to more than 10 million Ethernet Service Locations served via CENX's Carrier Ethernet exchanges.

"Joining CENX is integral to the company's strategy to deliver high capacity, Ethernet services bundled with our high touch support for customers," said Felipe Alvarez, President, RCN Metro. "The new connection also opens up new wholesale opportunities across RCN Metro's U.S. and International network footprint." "We are delighted to welcome RCN Metro to CENX's expanding network of more than 20 Carrier Ethernet service providers," said Eric Gillenwater, VP of Worldwide Development for CENX. "RCN Metro is an ideal fit for the company's international carrier members seeking access to metro markets." Leveraging CENX's 10 million "On Net" Ethernet Service Locations, RCN Metro's connection, initially to CENX's New York and Chicago exchanges, is for both buying and selling Ethernet Services to enable further expansion of its domestic and international business.
