Dongbu HiTek Now Shipping SMPS Controllers to Grandtek LSI
SEOUL, South Korea --(Business Wire)--
Dongbu HiTek today announced that it has begun shipping Switched-Mode Power Supply (SMPS) controller ICs to Grandtek LSI, a fabless analog semiconductor company based in Korea. Targeting laptop/netbook PC adapters and set-top boxes, the new controllers were manufactured at Dongbu HiTek's world class wafer fab using a specialized BCDMOS process at the 0.35-micron node.
According to Lou Hutter, EVP of Dongbu HiTek's Analog Foundry Business Unit, "The SMPS controllers now shipping exemplify our expanding expertise in the development and manufacture of mixed-signal power management devices using specialized BCDMOS process technologies." He noted that the new controller ICs integrate Bipolar (analog), CMOS (digital), and DMOS (high voltage) functions to produce the various DC voltages required to operate low-power computing and communications products by performing AC-to-DC and DC-to-DC conversion.
"Power management has become a key growth driver in the semiconductor industry," added Hutter. "We are committed to delivering best-in-class power management solutions leveraging our analog chip design know-how, and we look forward to expanding upon our relationship with Grandtek LSI in ways that enable its power management chip solutions to serve more applications such as LCD TV, LCD monitors."
