Noteworthy -- Chinese crackdown on hacker training

Feb 09, 2010 (The Kansas City Star - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- CHINESE CRACKDOWN Police in central China's Hubei province have shut down a hacker training operation that openly recruited more than 12,000 paying members online and gave them cyberattack lessons and malicious software, state media said Monday. Three persons were arrested for allegedly running the hacker site, known as the Black Hawk Safety Net. The crackdown comes amid growing concern that China is a center for Internet crime and industrial espionage.

--Archon Group, a real estate investment firm that manages City Center Square, has a written agreement to buy the former Jones Store downtown.

--A 42-year-old Independence man who is between jobs hits a much anticipated slot machine jackpot of $258,010.10 at Station Casino Kansas City.
