Microtune Partners with Samsung Electro-Mechanical

Jan 07, 2010 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Microtune, Inc. announced that it has entered into a supply agreement with Samsung Electro Mechanical.

Microtune said it is shipping its tuners which are currently deployed by Samsung Electro Mechanical Co. in production-ready, modular electronics subsystems for digital television (DTV) product lines.

"Our single-chip tuners, with their small form factor and support of worldwide TV reception standards, enable Samsung to streamline its designs for the global marketplace, to reduce the size and weight of its components, and to achieve higher throughput in the manufacturing process." Microtune, inventor of the patented single-chip TV silicon tuner, supplies radio frequency (RF) and digital signal components, including tuners, demodulators and receivers, to digital televisions markets. The company's customer-hardened products enable television manufacturers to deliver off-air and cable reception in DTVs across global standards and product lines.

Samsung Electro Mechanical is an electronic parts and components manufacturer serving. Headquartered in Suwon, South Korea, the company is focused on digital products based on high-frequency engineering and design technologies.

Microtune is a receiver solutions company that designs and markets radio frequency (RF) and demodulator electronics. Its products, targeted to the cable, digital television and automotive entertainment markets, are engineered to deliver video, voice and data signals across a diverse range of end products, from HDTVs, set-top boxes and cable modems to car radios.
