Berea man arrested after burglary report
Jan 01, 2010 (Richmond Register - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Police arrested a Berea man early Thursday morning near the scene of a reported burglary in the 400 block of Elm Street.
Justin Dobbs, 20, of Buffalo Hollow Road, was arrested after police found him walking on Elm Street near the building, said Sgt. Willard Reardon, Richmond Police Department spokesman.
The building was under renovation, Reardon said, and a rear door had been forced open. Nothing was reported stolen in the burglary.
Dobbs was detained while officers investigated, and evidence linking him to the break-in was found at the scene, Reardon said.
Police charged Dobbs with third-degree burglary for the break-in, and also charged him with alcohol intoxication and second-degree criminal mischief.
The mischief charge stems from Dobbs allegedly throwing rocks at a van belonging to an employee of the Blue Moon Tavern, Reardon said.
Dobbs was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
Christmas burglary
More than $3,000 in items were reported stolen from a home in the 200 block of W. Walnut Street on Christmas morning, Reardon said.
The break-in was reported by the homeowner, who said the items had been taken overnight. Reardon said the burglar broke a window out of a basement door to gain access to the home.
Reported stolen were: a 46-inch Sanyo LCD television; a 9mm Ruger handgun; a Nintendo Wii video game console and three games; an XBox 360 video game console and three games; a Dell laptop computer; a purple Apple iPod; a silver diamond cluster ring; and a pair of Timberland boots.
Reardon said the items were valued at $3,320.
