SC Magazine Recognizes Aerohive Networks as 2009 Industry Innovator for Wireless Security
SANTA CLARA, CA, Dec 17, 2009 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --
Aerohive Networks, creators of the award-winning cooperative control
wireless LAN (WLAN) architecture, announced today that SC Magazine,
the longest-running information security magazine in the world, has
named Aerohive the "2009 Industry Innovator" for wireless security in
its December 2009 issue. Aerohive was recognized in the Perimeter
Defense-Wireless Security category for the cutting-edge security
management features in its cooperative control wireless LAN access
points (HiveAPs). SC Magazine selected Industry Innovators based on a
combination of business and technical innovation. More information
about Aerohive Networks is available at www.aerohive.com, and SC
Magazine's award write-up is available at
http://www.scmagazineus.com/wireless-security-aerohive-networks/review/3045/.
"Aerohive is a true innovator. The company has a totally unique view
of the wired/wireless paradigm and a forward-looking approach to
pervasive wireless deployment that replaces Ethernet in the
enterprise," said Peter Stephenson, technical editor, SC Magazine.
"Aerohive's mix of cutting-edge technology, market savvy, and vision
has earned it a coveted spot on the 2009 list."
"Aerohive is widely recognized as a wireless LAN technology
innovator, both for our pioneering approach to wireless network
architecture and for our security and per user policy enforcement
capabilities including WIDS, stateful inspection firewall, VPN and
strong authentication suite of 802.1X, RADIUS, Active Directory and
Private PSK," said David Flynn, chief executive officer, Aerohive.
"We're honored to receive this recognition from SC Magazine."
Aerohive's unique cooperative control wireless LAN architecture
requires no network controllers or overlay networks. Instead,
software in the HiveAPs enables them to self-organize into groups
called hives. The result is a secure multi-service wireless LAN
infrastructure that is able to support a vast array of wireless
devices, application types, and service levels, with faster client
performance, wire-like resilience, and lower capital and operational
costs. HiveAPs support a wide array of access control and security
functions, such as 802.11i, wireless IDS, stateful inspection
firewall, 802.1X authentication, and guest access control, and
integrate with third-party solutions, such as Microsoft NAP- and
TNC-based systems, to enforce endpoint compliance checking.
