Emulex and Alacritech enter licensing agreement

(Telecomworldwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Converged networking solutions provider Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX) and high-performance networking products provider Alacritech Inc jointly announced on Thursday that they have entered into a licensing agreement.

The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

According to the company, the agreement gives Emulex access to Alacritech's patent portfolio, including support for Microsoft's Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) Chimney architecture for its OneConnect Universal Converged Network Adapters (UCNAs).

The company's OneConnect UCNAs deliver full hardware offload and acceleration for all three protocols (TCP/Internet Protocol (IP), Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) Adapters and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE)) on a single-chip that is optimised to support IP and storage networking demands.
