Intel mulls over bidding for stake in ITI's WiMAX JVs

(M&A Navigator Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) US chip maker Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) is planning to bid for a stake in the WiMAX joint ventures to be set up by state-run telecom equipment maker Indian Telecom Industries (ITI), the Business Standard wrote Friday.

According to unidentified sources with knowledge of the matter, ITI will hold a minority 26% stake in the proposed JVs.

Intel is interested in manufacturing the hardware and consumer premise equipment around WiMAX technology, the informed people said.
