Acentic: Acentic joins forces with Philips to enable Ultimate HD

COLOGNE, Germany, Nov 04, 2009 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- Acentic, a leading supplier of digital interactive TV (iTV) systems for the hotel industry is to partner with Philips to create Europe's set top box (STB) free high definition viewing experience for hotel guests. The solution will utilize Philips' Ultimate HD TV sets, and integrate them with Acentic's Panorama In-room Hotel Entertainment Platform. This system is the first integrated LCD TV for the hotel market offering Full HD broadcast channels without the use of an external STB and associated cabling, significantly reducing maintenance. The combination of Acentic's Panorama platform provides the hotel guests with true HD video on demand and unique content through a rich and fully customizable Graphical User Interface.

The blending of Acentic's Panorama product with the Philips Ultimate HD screen brings a number of unique features to the hotel room including: Full independence between broadcast TV and PayTV, so that even without the Acentic Panorama system, the hotel can still benefit from protected HD broadcast channels.

Removes the need for any external STB or cabling.

Ability to fully leverage the existing coaxial infrastructure.

The integration between Panorama and Philips' Ultimate HD is a direct response to the needs of hotels and their guests for true High Definition in-room TV and entertainment services over existing infrastructures," said Mark Poldervaart, the Senior Business Manager of Philips' Hospitality business in EMEA. "With HD accelerating across European households, hotel guests expect HD in their hotel room. Panorama and Philips take the hotel room one step ahead of the consumer world enabling the delivery of HD video on demand on top of HD broadcast channels.
