Making the announcement today, Gemalto said that it is working with local partner SAI (Smart Aplikasi Indonesia), an affiliate of leading IT Network solutions provider Alita.

Gemalto's Dexxis solution is a decentralised instant card issuance, in-person, in-branch and in a matter of minutes. Its offer includes EMV smart cards, servers, software, printers and training to deploy the solution over a secure TCP/IP trusted network in the banking and retail environment.

The company said that by using fingerprint biometric authentication from the software inside the chip, the smart cards provide a higher level of security to the cardholder and the issuer.

The card can store various types of secure banking services such as an e-purse, prepaid data, deposit remittances, savings and loans, as well as financial and health insurance.

Furthermore, the card serves as an electronic statement, logging up to 150 transactions.
