WSO2 Develops Mashup Server 2.0

Nov 04, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- WSO2, an open source SOA company, announced the launch of WSO2 Mashup Server 2.0.

According to WSO2, the re-architected open source WSO2 Mashup Server is now based on WSO2 Carbon, a componentized service-oriented architecture (SOA) platform.

The JavaScript programming model includes components that help acquire information from a range of sources, including Web services, scraped Web pages, Atom and RSS feeds, and local files. After scripting together these information sources, the results can be published as a new Web service, feeds, Ajax-style Web pages, or notifications via instant messaging or email.

As part of the WSO2 Carbon SOA platform, WSO2 Mashup Server 2.0 sits on the core Carbon framework that provides all WSO2 Carbon SOA components with enterprise-class management, security, clustering, logging, statistics, tracing, and a "Try-It" wizard for testing services. It also uses a unified graphical user interface designed to help deploy, manage, and view services, processes, process instances, and statistics across any SOA components being implemented. Any components added to WSO2 Mashup Server 2.0 are automatically recognized by the core Carbon framework and unified management console, eliminating the complexity of integration.

"The WSO2 Mashup Server has helped enterprise users to increase their productivity allowing users to combine Web content and disparate internal data into composite services," said Dr. Sanjiva Weerawarana, founder and CEO of WSO2. "With the new WSO2 Carbon-based Mashup Server 2.0, users can now extend that productivity across the organization, providing the performance, management and security that enterprise Web services demand - along with the flexibility to adapt as their needs change." WSO2 Mashup Server 2.0 is available for download immediately. As an open source solution released under the Apache License 2.0, WSO2 Mashup Server does not carry any software licensing or subscription fees.
