Hatteras Networks' New Carrier-Class HN500 Series Ethernet-Over-TDM Capability Extends Ethernet Services to Any Location
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. --(Business Wire)--
Hatteras Networks (News - Alert), the global leader in multi-service Ethernet solutions for enterprise access services and next-generation mobile backhaul, announced today its new HN500 Series customer premise equipment (CPE) for enabling high-performance, reliable and cost-effective Ethernet over Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) and Ethernet over NxT1/E1 services. With the carrier-class HN500 Series, carriers can quickly bond up to eight T1/E1 signals over a single Ethernet connection and provide services of up to 12 and 16 Mbps respectively.
Deployed at a customer site, the HN500 Series connects to Hatteras Networks' new HN6100 at the carrier central office to extend Ethernet business services to any location. Hatteras Networks' modular, multi-service HN6100 which also supports Ethernet over Copper, TDM over Ethernet and Ethernet over Fiber CPE is being announced separately today.
"Carriers need to be able to expand the types of services they can offer or customers they can support without the complexity of operating systems from multiple vendors transporting their various Ethernet service offerings," said Erin Dunne, Director of Research Services, Vertical Systems Group. "They are under tremendous competitive and cost pressure to slash time to service and deliver a dependable, high-performance service that minimizes operational deployment costs."
The HN500 Series is a compact, economical, plug-and-play demarcation device that easily scales in capacity and service ubiquity and enables a carrier to quickly and easily turn up services. Hatteras Networks' "zero-touch" CPE featuring standards-based operations, administration and maintenance (OAM) and carrier-class reliability and troubleshooting can be automatically and remotely updated, configured and monitored, reducing a carrier's number of truck rolls. Support for flexible virtual local area network (VLAN) manipulation, traffic shaping, traffic policing and hierarchical traffic management allows a carrier to ensure delivery of multiple services competing for limited access bandwidth.
"With the HN500 Series, we responded to the requests of carriers who told us that they gain a significant ROI with the deployment model of our HN400 Ethernet over Copper solution and want the same advanced functionality and benefits in a product for Ethernet over TDM services," said Vijay Raman, Vice-President of Marketing and Product Management at Hatteras Networks. "With our new, fully modular, multi-service HN6100 and an expanded, flexible suite of CPE which includes the HN500 Series, carriers can deploy a sophisticated, single-vendor solution for all of their Ethernet access requirements."
The HN500 Series is available today.
About Hatteras Networks
Hatteras Networks is redefining the way carriers think about Ethernet services. Hatteras Networks' Ethernet service delivery solutions are leading service providers worldwide to a significant expansion of the Metro Ethernet market, which had previously been limited by legacy technologies in the access network. Now service providers are empowered to cost-effectively offer 100 Mbps Ethernet services over existing facilities, enabling businesses to migrate from legacy networks to transparent Ethernet services for voice and data business connectivity, infrastructure backhaul and mobile wireless backhaul solutions.
Already deployed on five continents, Hatteras Networks Ethernet solutions are enabling a market expansion for carriers that is as significant for business services as "triple play" is for residential. For more information, visit www.hatterasnetworks.com.
