Annual bazaar supports charity [Tampa Tribune, Fla.]
(Tampa Tribune (FL) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sep. 30--APOLLO BEACH -- Looking for a bargain? Need your car washed? Want to exchange some books or a video?
You can do it all and benefit Easter Seals on Oct. 10 at the fourth annual Beggins Bazaar.
The fundraiser will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Century 21 Beggins Enterprises parking lot at 6542 U.S. 41 N. Admission is free to the event, which includes a huge yard sale, bake sale, car wash and book/video swap. To keep things hopping, DJ Gary has donated his time to spin tunes and pump up the crowd. Even Santa has promised to show up.
"He promises we'll all be dancing in the streets," said event coordinator Eileen Eletto.
Hosted by the Sun City Center and Apollo Beach franchises owned by Craig Beggins, the bazaar is one of several events held in South Shore each year to support Easter Seals, Century 21's corporate charity.
"Each franchise is asked to raise $2,100 annually," Eletto said. "Last year, we raised $16,000, which is used locally."
Easter Seals is a national organization that provides services to children and adults with disabilities and other special needs, and support to their families.
"We have a storage facility packed with items for the yard sale from agents, clients and community members," said Barbara Monahan, assistant broker and co-coordinator. "We have electronics, housewares, furniture, clothing, toys and much more. Everything is priced to go, so anyone looking for a bargain is sure to find one."
A $5 donation gets your car washed by staff volunteers, Monahan said.
"We'll wash your truck, boat, motorcycle, pet -- anything that needs a bath," she said.
There also will be food, plenty of it and all donated by area businesses. A hamburger or hot dog, drink and chips will go for $3.
And don't forget the drawing.
Answer a trivia question and hand over $1 for a ticket to win prizes, including four Lightning tickets, club seats, food and drink; gift baskets; gift certificates; and cash.
There will be 20 prize winners and only 1,000 tickets sold.
