SAP and Across Systems Team for Master Data Translating
Jul 02, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) --
Starting immediately, SAP users can profit from a solution for translating master data created with the SAP enterprise resource planning system, the company reported.
In close cooperation with Across Systems, the Process Integration E-Commerce Department of SAP Consulting Deutschland has developed a consulting solution for linking the ERP system to the Across Language Server. Thus, the translation processing of master data and product information is carried out fully automatically: from creating a translation project in SAP ERP to forwarding texts and meta data to the Across Language Server, from automatic generation of translation jobs to the final storing of finished translations into the SAP system.
The new offer from the two providers addresses companies operating at an international level that need to translate their master data for catalogs and data sheets, as well as price lists and order confirmations, into numerous languages.
The Across Language Server provides a central platform for all corporate language resources and translation processes. The integrated solution is comprised of a translation memory, a terminology system, and a universal translation editor. The solution's standard equipment includes tools for handling and managing translation projects and for seamless cooperation of internal and external staff members, translators, and reviewers.
The consulting solution of SAP Consulting Deutschland enables automated, transparent and continuous processing of translation projects. Languages into which individual entries should be translated can be defined directly in the system even while creating reference data in SAP ERP - from material master data, text blocks and product catalogs to other text objects. The translation workflow is initiated in the ERP system. The system sends content and project parameters directly to the Across Language Server, where a corresponding project is set up. The Across Language Server can either be an in-house server or an external server, such as one used in a foreign subsidiary or at a language service provider.
Processing steps include assignment to individual translators, matching with the translation memory, the translation itself, quality assurance, release and so on. After all applicable steps have been concluded, the Across Language Server returns the target text content directly to the SAP system. There, it can be used for publication of foreign language catalogues, flyers, labels and other product information.
As a learning system, the Across Language Server saves all new word choices used in a translation. This wording is then automatically available for reuse in future translations.
