Kingsoft, Qihoo Cooperates in Antivirus Business

Kingsoft Corporation Ltd. (SEHK: 3888) announced on July 2, 2009 that it would carry out the deepened cooperation with anti-virus software provider Qihoo Corporation.
The two parties agreed to launch Qihoo-customized Kingsoft Internet Security antivirus software and Kingsoft-customized Qihoo 360 Safe Web browsers to consumers, and help promote each other's products on their own websites.
The cooperation is expected to boost the expansion of the Kingsoft Internet Security software, according to Kingsoft Senior Vice President Ge Ke. Earlier, Qihoo largely facilitated the popularization of Kaspersky Lab's anti-virus software, too.
However, the Kingsoft-Qihoo cooperation is expected not to shock the position of Beijing Rising Information Technology Co., Ltd., the provider of China's most popular anti-virus software, as the latter has built partnerships with the downloading software developers like Xunlei.com and Kuaiche.com, according to Rising Information Tech Spokesman Ma Gang.
Besides, Mr. Ma said that his company appreciated Qihoo's efforts to spread Chinese homegrown software products.
