SmarTrend(R) News Watch: Juniper Adds Functionality, Efficiency to M and MX Routers

Juniper Networks (NASDAQ:JNPR) announced some new features and capabilities of its MX and M series routers as part of its "Intelligent Services Edge" strategy, according to a Light Reading report. The company has added session border control, media gateway, intrusion prevention, IP traffic monitoring by Telchemy and firewall capabilities into what it calls its Integrated Multiservice Gateway "multiservices cards." Running these applications on a Juniper router card can lower power consumption by 30% or more, a benefit of increasing importance for many customers conscious of costs as well as their ecological footprint.
