New Cypress PowerPSoC® starter & development kits available at Newark

CHICAGO --(Business Wire)-- Committed to bringing design engineers the newest technologies first, leading multi-channel electronics distributor Newark, part of the global Premier Farnell Group, announces that is now stocking Cypress' CY3267 PowerPSoC® evaluation kit and CY3268 PowerPSoC® demonstration kit for same day shipping at www.newark.com/cypress. These kits give designers the ability to evaluate the industry's first single chip solution for both controlling and driving high-power LEDs.

Introduced by Cypress in April, the new family integrates four constant-current regulators and four 32V MOSFETs with Cypress' PSoC® programmable system-on-chip, which includes a microcontroller, programmable analog and digital blocks, and memory. The product results in end systems with fewer components, faster design cycles, lower power consumption and higher reliability.

The PowerPSoC® evaluation kit is available for prototyping, and offers a modular approach with interface for daughter-cards to support multiple applications, multiple protocols and customer-specific daughter cards. The PowerPSoC® demonstration kit drives four LEDs in a small form factor (2.5"x3.5") with basic reprogramming/debugging capability. The kits further integrate Cypress' innovative and industry-leading CapSense™ touch-sensing solution.

"The launch of this solution is well-timed, as the demand for solid-state lighting is rapidly growing," comments Paul Buckley, Senior VP, Sales & Supplier Management, Newark "Cypress' continued innovation in product integration simplifies the complexity of high-brightness LED design. It also shows commitment to their customers' demands and the ability to adapt to this fast-growing market." "With these two PowerPSoC kits and the PSoC Designer™ development tool, designers of high-quality LED-based lighting, white goods, industrial control and other embedded systems can start programming and prototyping immediately," said Geoff Charubin, VP of Worldwide Distribution at Cypress Semiconductor. "Users can experience firsthand how the revolutionary PSoC design methodology enables real-time hardware and software changes for different lighting and power options."
