Was it Michael Jackson's body double at the 02: report

London, Mar 15, 2009 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- Was it the real King of Pop that the world saw at the 02 Arena making the announcement about his historic comeback concert or a mere impostor? If reports doing the rounds of various websites are to be believed it was not the real Michael Jackson but a body double that made the brief public appearance to announce Jackson's upcoming concert series in London.

The highly anticipated series would be his first live performance in over a decade.

One of the explanations being offered is that the star suffered a minor accident after falling on the steps of his minibus minutes before it left for the Arena, the Daily Mail reported online quoting various Internet reports.

The incident could be a possible reason as Jackson had in fact taken a fall while boarding the bus and was also caught on camera while falling.

With millions at stake, the organisers allegedly brought in a convincing impersonator so that the waiting fans and global media are not disappointed.

The reports suggest that there was something amiss in Jackson's appearance, who has been in news for his failing health but such reports have been dismissed as "false" by his spokesperson.

The superstar's chin looked impossibly square and his voice was several octaves lower than the squeaky tone that the "Thriller" hitmaker normally adopts in front of his fans. The 50-year-old walked with a slightly hunched gait which is not expected of a person, who ranks among the world's most spectacular dance performers.

There is a massive debate on Internet sites about the much hyped appearance of Jackson and the stories are now snowballing into a big controversy.

Speculation began even before the nervous-looking figure stepped through the scarlet silk curtains of the Arena. No explanation was given for why he was more than 90 minutes late. Questions over his health circulated in the throng.

"It's completely ridiculous," an Arena source had said reacting to the reports.

"We can categorically guarantee it was Michael Jackson on stage. Maybe Elvis was at the press conference too," the source had said while dismissing the reports.

Meanwhile tickets for Jackson's extended series of 50 summer shows sold out in record time, with prices of up to a staggering 25,000 pounds being demanded on the resale market.
