Jan 08, 2009 (Houston Chronicle - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Tiny notebooks are a big deal at International CES, the annual consumer electronics show in Las Vegas this week.
Nearly every hardware maker's got one to tout.
Hewlett-Packard Co. is showing off the next member of its popular Mini family. The new HP Mini 2140, which weighs in at 2.6 pounds, is aimed primarily at business users. It's got a 10-inch screen, Wi-Fi, an Intel Atom processor, a gigabyte of memory and a 160-GB hard drive or an 80-GB flash-memory based drive. It comes with Windows XP.
If you travel often and need a step up from a super-cheap netbook, this may be one to consider. Price: $499.
